Simon Doonan on the Cover of @NextMagazineNY

I had the honor & pleasure of working with @SimonDoonan
Creative Ambassador for @BarneysNY.  We shot for Next Magazine at his home in the West Village. Greg Endries captured Simon’s “Creative” side and his talent speaks for itself.  Simon was a PLEASURE to work with & it was a wonderful experience.  His home was spectacular and it matched his vivacious personality and bright smile.  I fell in LOVE with his dog Liberace.  I hope everyone has the opportunity to meet Simon one day.

Shredding Tresses Up In the 2012: Haircuts for Manhattan Men

New Year means out with the old-do and in with the new-do. When searching for a “new” look to amp up your basic everyday appearance, why look directly to a magazine when you can look to the street? Manhattan is chock full of inspiration, especially during your morning commute (think: “Devil Wears Prada”). This year’s key three looks are sure to pull together your look and provide the ideal accessory this winter. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the office, on stage, or in front of the camera, one of these three styles will work for a trendier you.

 Slicked Back Undercut

The “Slicked Back Undercut” is the most popular for 2012. Looking back to the 1920’s for inspiration, this is a modern take on a classic look. If your hair is easy to flat-iron, this would work better for you. Buzz the sides down to a 1 to turn heads with a more dramatic look.

The "Indie Rock" look works well with anyone really. Straight hair? Go choppier with some layers. Curly/wavy? Play with product. Hate hair maintenance? This is the one for you.

The “Men’s Quiff” has been making its way back for a little while on the runway. For a polished, vintage look, this is for you modern dandys rocking that rockabilly look on the daily (Williamsburg, I’m calling you out right now). This is my favorite style this season, its edgy and requires the most confident of men to pull it off.

Follow these 3 simple steps:

  1. Ask your stylist what tools and product you will need
  2. Consider the time you will need to style your hair
  3. What will stay trendy for your lifestyle the longest

Be playful, have fun and trust your stylist! If your gut is telling you to take a risk, roll with it…just don’t use rollers (or Coke cans). According to the Mayan Calendar, this is our last year to make a statement.

2012 Resolutions

My 2012 resolutions involve a regular exercise regimen that involves the mind, body, and spirit like yoga or thai chi. Ive never traveled outside the United States. Im getting my passport & im taking a REAL vacation. Id also like to practice meditation more so I can get a deeper understanding for the whole. My final resolution is to make my business BIGGER! I’m going to start seeking clients in LA along with New York so I can get the best of both worlds.
I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year! I look forward to a wonderful 2012 with you ALL…

Best

1. Moisturize with SPF 15 daily!

2. Use a concealer to cover imperfections instead of foundation. Concealing just the problem area keeps the rest of your skin looking fresh and natural. No one will know you’re wearing anything.

3. Apply a light matte bronzer on the forehead, cheeks and under your neckline; this keeps you looking sun-kissed all year round.
